Chapter 1: Volkswagen, "Think Small"
Volkswagen advertisements are always well designed in my opinion. They design in a way that is clean and simple. From the typeface to the logo, Volkswagen is amongst the best when it comes to brand design. This specific ad always catches my eye because of the use of space. The tiny car, placed slightly off center looks out of place on print. The unconventional use of space captures the viewers attention.
Chapter 2: Chick-Fill-A, “Eat Mor”
I Love the “Eat Mor” Chicken ad campaign by Chick-Fil-A. It’s creative and funny. The usage of the cows makes it accessible to all age groups. Plus, when a company uses some kind of animal in their campaigns, I feel as though it wins a lot of potential consumers on cute points alone. In addition, the entire scene is comical; it gives the viewer the illusion that they are catching the cows mid vandalization. On top of that the witty copy reads “Eat More Chicken”. I think Chick-Fil-A made a creative ad in a way that worked well on a billboard ad.

Chapter 3: Levis, “SHRINK TO FIT”, “FOOT” & “DOG”
I really dislike these print ads by Levis. This may just be because I interpret things extremely literally but I think that Levis missed the point with this ad. It gives the viewer the impression that they will shrink in size if they buy these jeans. In addition, it’s not very visually stimulating. The whole point of shrink to fit jeans, is that the jeans shrink in size to fit the person better. I didn’t feel as though that was effectively conveyed in this ad.
Chapter 4: Tina Tong, “CANNERY ROW”
This print ad is amazing. First and foremost the ad itself is visually appealing. It does such a great job of capturing the viewer because almost everything about the image is normal, apart from the mans hands that appear to look like a book cover. There is something very off putting about that, giving me (viewer) the absorbing feeling where it’s hard not to look away.

This is my image that I chose. I feel that it embellishes Volkswagen's overall creative approach to advertising design. In comparison to the "Think Small" campaign it shows that things really haven't changed all that much since then. The ad is still very minimal, simple, and clean.
